Tour Plan
Your African wilderness safari begins upon arrival, where you'll be picked up from the airport or your hotel in Arusha. From there, we'll drive to Arusha National Park, carrying picnic lunch boxes for the day.
Arusha National Park, though small, boasts a diverse array of landscapes, including the prominent Mount Meru, a towering volcano standing at 4,566 meters. The park's unique topography encompasses lush rainforests, open savannas, and scenic lakes, providing a varied and picturesque setting.
While Arusha National Park may not offer the same prolific game-viewing as other parks in Tanzania's Northern circuit, it still provides an incredible opportunity to observe a wide range of wildlife. Common sightings include giraffes, Cape buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, flamingos, elephants, bushbucks, and many other fascinating creatures.
By midday, you'll pause for a picnic lunch amidst the stunning scenery. Afterward, the safari continues, allowing for more exploration and wildlife encounters. By early afternoon, at around 4:30 pm, you'll exit the park and head to your hotel. There, you'll have the opportunity to relax, dine, swim, and relive the memories of your exciting day in the wild.
After an early breakfast, you will check out from the hotel in Arusha and head straight to Tarangire NP.
Tarangire NP is in the Manyara region. The park's name originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park. During the annual Dry season, the river is the primary source of fresh water for wild animals in the Tarangire ecosystem. Ranking as the 6th-largest national park in Tanzania and covering an area of 2,600 sq km, Tarangire NP is most famous for its large elephant herds. Here, it is usually very dry and actually drier than the Serengeti.
In the afternoon, you will have a lunch break. After lunch, the game drive continues until you start returning to your accommodation in the Karatu region. It is time to relax, dine, swim, and relive the memories you collected during the day.
After an early breakfast, we'll embark on a journey to the majestic Ngorongoro Crater. As the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater is a natural wonder filled with diverse ecosystems, including grasslands, forests, and swamps. The area is uniquely shared by the Maasai people, who graze their cattle alongside the abundant wildlife.
Since 1956, the crater has been a distinct conservation area and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. It is renowned as the flagship attraction of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, drawing visitors from around the globe. The crater is home to an impressive concentration of the Big Five: elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and the critically endangered rhinos. Additionally, vast herds of wildebeest and zebras can be seen traversing the plains, particularly during their annual migration.
Around midday, we will pause for a tranquil picnic lunch within the crater, surrounded by its breathtaking beauty. After lunch, the safari continues, offering more opportunities to spot the diverse wildlife. By the afternoon, we will return to your lodge. Here, you can relax, enjoy a delicious dinner, take a swim, and reminisce about the incredible experiences of the day.
After breakfast, head to Lake Eyasi and enjoy the views of this expansive lake, which ends up being an unexpected highlight for many travelers. Lake Eyasi is the homeland of the Hadza, a hunter-gatherer people, many of whom still live traditional lives.
You will visit a Hadzabe community where they will demonstrate some of the traditional aspects of the life and culture of Tanzania’s last hunter-gatherer group. This is a particularly unique experience as this community continually struggles to protect their indigenous way of life. Guests are encouraged to be mindful of this issue.
They survived primarily by hunting and foraging for food. You will experience some of the traditional aspects of their lives.
Around midday, you stop and enjoy your lunch in the tranquility of the crater. After lunch, the game drive continues until you return to your lodge in the afternoon. It is time to relax, dine, swim and relive the memories you collected during the day.
After breakfast, we drive to Lake Manyara National Park with picnic lunch boxes.
Lake Manyara NP is worth a stop in its own right. Its groundwater forests, bush plains, baobab-strewn cliffs, and algae-streaked hot springs offer incredible ecological variety in a small area, rich in wildlife and incredible numbers of birds. Pink flamingos stoop and graze by the thousands, colorful specks against the grey minerals of the lakeshore. Lake Manyara National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, set in grassland, savannah, woods, mountain scenery, and hot springs. This park is home to flamingo, elephant, tree-climbing lion, buffalo, leopard, gazelle, baboon, hyena, and many others.
In the afternoon, you will have a lunch break. After lunch, the game drive continues until you return to Arusha for drop-off at your lodge or the airport.
